This ride
is for people who like to go for it! It again loops through Balblair Forest and
extends right the way along to Invershin where we have our first gallop uphill
(particularly good for first time gallopers as the horse can’t bolt) and get a
view over Carbisdale Castle, the river Shin, the Kyle of Sutherland, the river
Oykel, the Dornoch Firth, the west coast hills of Assynt, Ben Wyvis, Alladale
Estate, Skibo Estate, Balnagown Estate, and all the way out to the light house
at Tarbert Ness. We go “off piste” along some very challenging trails until we
join up with the topmost trail in the wood. Here we go for a second gallop,
again uphill, to the O2 mast where we improve the view by having climbed around
500m above sea level. After this we go gently back home through clear felled
areas of wood that allow a good chance of spotting deer and eagles before a
last short canter and home.
